my dream kitchen and other random things

Today I gave My Dream Kitchen company a deposit for our kitchen cabinets. I am so hard to impress when it comes to workmanship but I get the impression they can do the high quality job I DEMAND..xx

So our two bay soapstone sink came today. the nicest fed-ex man delieverd it. He was a real chatty man. Told me alot about his house that he designed and some funny stories about his ordering "window treatments". He even opened the crate for me! (he says I have excellent taste in sinks- he must be a smart guy). When I told him I went to UNCG he told me he makes delieverys there all the time and maybe he will see me again there!... Mabye he has no friends here in Greensboro, like me. I had one friend here but Adam moved :(.

I just made an over on a round granite prep sink (blackish) and tonight I bought another pull out faucet. It will be close enough to the AGA so I can prep items and if I need to fill a pot or add water to a pot while cooking I can just pull the hose over to it.

So my cat is truely the best cat in the whole world. He beats any other cat. Wait, Bentley was the best cat in the whole world too though so i guess they tie.

I am thinking of getting another black German Shepard. I think I should wait until I get home to Maryland though.

Today Dr Kirchoff and the other people in the lab gave me a very cool Shamrock plant for Good Luck :) . I love it! And one of the girls in the lab made me a CD of Nepali music....very cool. They are all really nice. Our experiment seems to be going really well.

On anothe hand, the stockmarket is not doing us any favors and right when we need the money. We are going to wait another week or so to order the floors because of the trouble it's giving us. Hopefully we will come back enough to feel happier selling.

Tomorrow I am so happy to be going to see the sone work of a gentleman named Bobby. He covered a stove hood with stone and a stone fireplace, other walls and he is working on a waterfall right near here. We are meeting at noon so he can show me his work in person. I have to see if he is better or worse than the stone master from Greensboro. He is from the mountains near Stokes county. Anyway, I have to get the stone done very soon. Oh dear, I need to order a hood.

My blog is so boring huh. I am so dumb bored. I guess that is why I didn't start a blog in ROCKVILLE...and I started one here. I just have nothing to freaking do. I miss dancing SO MUCH. I realize now it really was half my life before. At least I have the house to work on now.

breathing a lot

As long as a person breathes that person should not lose hope.

-JERUSALEM TALMUD 9:1

Good news to report on the new kitchen. Over the weekend we bought a very cool china cabinet that is circa 1930(well I knew it was cool from the get go but dean yelled at me the whole way home cuz he thought it was a piece of shit cuz it was all scratche up and bottom corner rotten wood). Then that night I was able to make it look perfect except for the bottom corner(dean decided he loved me again)... next, I am going to remove the rotten part and add legs to make it a higher cabinet. It shall be awesome when I am done. The people we bough the china cabinet from then showed us a wood burning stove they were selling...and it was another great deal so we bought that too. It has a blower and can fit 24" pieces of wood so it's good size, looks pretty new too, even has a kettle and pot for the top...and you can see the flames from the front(my old one was so old you actually had to put wood in from a small hole in the top and you could not see flames.) only problem is it is also very heavy like the aga...so i had to hire someone to pick it up sat. Anway, I have decided to put it in the middle of the new kitchen! and to have stone layed underneath and to go and behind it up the wall...and to have a wood box put in the side of the house for easy wood getting from outside. I got in contact with a guy who is apparently "THE STONE MASTER of GREENSBORO"!! so he is coming over tomorrow to show me his portfolio...I want a blackish stone with gray in it so if we have ash on the floor it will blend in.
So also today I bought an all stainless steal sink with three bowls and two drip boards....aparently non destructable! we are going to use it in a workshop area.
and also very exciting TO ME ...last week I bought a super cool two bay SOAPSTONE sink...it is the most awesome sink ever! It will be here friday. sometimes my design brillance scares me. xx.

BEST OF ALL, dean and I decided on our wood floors for the house. we are going to use a 2 1/4" width mahogany floor....totallly KEY and totally exquisite. oops, scared myself again.

so am I clear to you? ...our house is getting very cool.

and to top that all off, construction begins on a fifth bedroom on Monday.

Of course we won't have any money left for furniture so if you wanna come and visit don't forget your sleeping bag. :)

e kitchen man

so i have designed a Kraftmaid Kitchen(kraftmaid cabinets) through Lowes and now I have found bad reviews on Kraftmaid and now worried it's crapmaid. also, the guy I have been working with at Lowes I have found difficult to work with as he is never completely prepared for our meetings and always forgets some things I asked him to do. I gave him explicit instructions with a drawing of what I wanted and three times I came back to be shown completely different designs than what I asked for.....and is has messed up measurements etc etc..too many screw ups to mention( and he was suppose to be SO GOOD- whatever). So even know I am close to having something I like from him I am bittered....and SO in typical Jean Style I am going to go somewhere else assuming I can do better somewhere else. I am getting that feeling I got when I hired a for shit wedding planner and ended up doing everything myself anyway...and my husband pointed out i don't have a commitment with lowes--- he is going to be so pissed when he loses mega $$$ kitchen commission but screw him as he wasted my time and so I guess I can waste his and then we are even.

so what if my kitchen is 4 weeks behind schedule..I kinda like our mini George Forman grill and my toaster oven. OH good news is our awesome aga oven will be arriving next week!!!!

OH and evil kitchen guy was insisting I had to get a ice maker (50 pounder cuz not one in my frig and freezer) and said I could get one for 50 bucks...and then his appliance man showed me a cheap one for 1200 dollars- and then the appliance man told me I could add a icemaker to my freezer for $30. THEN he had put these 3 feet decorative poles in between some cabinets...and can you belive they were $400 each(he had eight in the design)..and then I found like 10 other fluff items we didnt need AT ALL! watch out for evil kitchen guys who want to rob you.

so tommorow the new kitchen company is coming to measure and meet with me. I pray they are better people.

sharia law is NOT the law in the USA- they want no alcohol in cabs....minneapolis muslim cab drivers have lost their little minds.
